D'Nyce's Biography

Not since Spinderella put the flavour in Salt 'n' Pepa during rap's reign in the 80's has there been such frenzy over women taking charge of the turntables.
Why is it when people think DJ they see a guy? There is absolutely no reason physical or mental why either guys or women should be better at it! Unfortunately, there are still those that think a female DJ is a novelty. It's more important to be good at what you do, and not to rely on recognition because you are woman.

When D’Nyce hit the scene she became a prime mover on the urban music scene that has influenced her life so heavily and the lives of so many others on the same scene.

Her early musical experiences were 'The Jackson Five, Slave, Cameo, Aswad, Jean Adebambo (rip), Carol Thompson, Errol Dunkley, Burning Spear alongside Duran Duran, Haircut 100 and Imagination. You may say this is extremely diverse but being one of the youngest in a family of five (D’Nyce being the only girl) opened up many musical doors. The first record that she bought as a youngster while still at school was 'Walking the line by Central Line' way back in the 1980's and she has been collecting/ buying music ever since.

By 2000 D’Nyce had played major nights at: Café de Paris, Cobden club, Jus Dancin', Raw, SoundShaft, The London Metropol Hotel (International Women's Month), The MOBO awards (2000, 2001) and the Met Bar (London Fashion Week 1999), supporting Phoebe One on tour with Redman & Method Man on their UK tour 2005 (7,000 people) to name a few.

Things got interesting after a chance meeting where D’Nyce was given her first show on Street FM, a small NW London community radio station. Considering she had never attempted radio before she impressed them so much that within a month she gained her second show and her name grew within her own local community.

A holiday to Cyprus, Ayia Napa brought a surprise twist of fate which opened a few doors for this female DJ, "it was in this year that I met Mike Anthony and Treble T from Rampage. It so happens that Rampage were looking for a female DJ to bring into the family and I was that DJ.

Since joining Rampage, D’Nyce has DJ'd all over the UK and internationally including the London Nottinghill Carnival. D’Nyce has DJ’d for and with the likes of Ms Dynamite, Sean Paul, Buju Banton, Baby Cham, Nathan, Fish Go Deep, Stone Love sound system, Masterstepz, Robbo Ranks, Mos Def, Dizzee Rascal, K2 family, Crazy Titch, Wayne Wonder, Rayvon, Mims, Alison Hinds, Collie Budz, Swizz Beats, Yummy Bingham, Gentleman, Crazy Cousins, Paleface, Jazmine Sullivan, Lloyd, Busy Signal, Shaggy, Mims, Estelle, to name a few.

Currently D’Nyce has two radio shows on Bang radio 103.6 fm or www.bangradio.fm: Soul-D-Out Mondays 7pm-9pm and The Wednesday Jump-off 7pm-9pm specialising in signed and unsigned soul artists from around the world. D’Nyce has a passion for radio and is something that she is actively pursuing.

Other activities:
Rampage promote a live music night called Soul-D-Out, which is the brainchild of D’Nyce. Soul-D-Out (the live music series) is a bi-monthly evening of live uncut raw soul music designed specifically to showcase and promote the outstanding talents of independent homegrown UK & international neo-soul, R&B & jazz artists to the UK. Soul-D-Out aims to provide performing artists a platform where they can promote themselves and gain all the necessary exposure possible through this event, which will hopefully propel them onto bigger things. The night is a bi-product of an extremely popular three year, weekly radio show called Soul-D-Out, which is now broadcasts on Bang radio 103.6 or www.bangradio.fm, Monday and Wednesday, 7pm-9pm. The show is hosted by Rampage DJ and radio presenter D’Nyce.

When asked about the event D’Nyce said "It is so much more than acoustic a little less than a full band" and “The only way to truly appreciate a recording artist is to hear them live”.

Past performers at Soul-D-Out include:
Donaeo, Yolanda Brown, Don-e, Tashas World, Adelaide Mackenzie, Ann-marie Lataille, Fola, Jonas, Gavin Holligan, Rachael Bell, Soul:ID, Matti Roots, Ramzi
